A minimum of 2 years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PACU Job Details: • Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM • Patient ratio of 1:2 • Call requirement once every four weeks • Variable weekend schedule required • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays • Maximum 7 days RTO allowed • Float to areas of overflow patients (typically surgical short stay) • Must have minimum 2 years of experience and travel experience required • ICU experience required (must have some ICU experience for screening) • May recover surgical patients in the ICU setting • Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, PALS • Navy scrubs required • Work with specialized equipment including cardiac monitors, arterial lines, ICP monitoring, dopplers, fetal heart monitors, wound vacs • Use Pyxis, EPIC, and Perfect Serve systems • Provide Phase 1-2 PACU care for patients recovering from surgical procedures • Care for patients from various specialties including vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, bariatrics, plastics, ENT, and pediatrics • Recovery times typically 30-90 minutes depending on patient discharge criteria • Must be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events • Cannot work more than 5 days in a row or more than 60 hours per week • Complete 8-10 hours of non-billable modules pre-start and annually Facility: This regional medical center operates a comprehensive Phase 1 Recovery Unit providing observation and care for patients who have undergone surgical procedures requiring anesthesia. The facility receives patients directly from the OR, EP Lab, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, MRI, and ICU patients needing recovery before unit admission. The PACU operates 24/7 with a varied and challenging practice environment, featuring 26 beds across 4 rooms with a daily census of 75-100 patients. The facility offers interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams.
