We are committed to diversity, culturally relevant teaching and learning, family and community engagement, restorative practices, and social and emotional learning.POSITION SUMMARY & PURPOSEThe School Counselor is responsible for all students, with an emphasis on the day-to-day operation of all aspects of counseling and services for all students, with an emphasis on the students for whom they are responsible. The Middle School Counselor is responsible for advising and counseling regarding academic, educational, and short-term social and emotional matters.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. For more information on complying with FERPA, refer to your Brookside Employee Handbook.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*All requirements listed below are required unless otherwise designated as "preferred."Education and CertificationsRequires a Master's Degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or CounselingLicensure with DESE or Missouri Committee of Professional RegistrationExperienceExperience as an administrator in a school environment is preferred.Experience providing a comprehensive school counseling program in a middle school setting preferred.Skills and TraitsProficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or equivalent software.The Middle School Counselor will demonstrate an understanding of how school operations and administration support instruction.The Middle School Counselor will make sure school procedures are clearly understood and implemented to serve a single purpose - to support the pursuit of student success holistically (socioemotional and academic outcomes).The candidate must be self-reflective, as well as fair and respectful of others.
