The Database Administrator requires an in-depth technical foundation in database structure, configuration, installation, operation and maintenance with experience designing databases. This position requires knowledge and experience in major relational database languages and applications, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Oracle Apex. This position focuses on using relevant experience, strong problem solving, and customer service skills to assist with architecting, testing, deploying, enhancing, and sustaining development and operational activities in close coordination with the Government. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to pay attention to detail, possess a strong customer service orientation and the ability to work as part of a team.Job DescriptionProvide Oracle/Oracle APEX and Microsoft SQL DBA support servicesPlan, implement, and monitor patching services for physical and virtual solutionsSupports the planning, engineering, installation, configuration, maintenance, operations, defense, troubleshooting, and repairing of database systems and serversServe as a senior administrator on these database systems and their integration with other software systems as part of the information environmentOperate, maintain, integrate, and administrate database hardwareProvide leadership and technical problem solving for customer support of databasesSupporting the implementation of databases using SQL, Active Server Pages (ASPs), .NET, Visual Basic (VB), JavaScript and any emerging on-premises or cloud databaseTroubleshoot issues with existing or developed database systems and work with the appropriate personnel to resolve themDevelop and document system administration, database management, and user guidesProviding input to database policy guidance and, upon approval, implementation as necessaryMonitor, tune, and optimize database performance, including index maintenance and query optimizationCreate, modify, and optimize database schemas, tables, stored procedures, and viewsApproving requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and dataEnsuring database integrity, stability, and system availabilityApproving solutions for database backup and recovery infrastructureWork on all phases of solutions from analysis and design through implementation and supportMinimum RequirementsAt least 8 years of experience in a database administration roleThorough background in Database modeling and implementationAbility to provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to DBA team membersKnowledge and understanding of cybersecurity measures, to include data encryption and auditingExperience developing strategic roadmap and 15goals for production databasesKnowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Java, C++, or .NETMicrosoft Office application skills to include Microsoft Access knowledgeStrong ability to produce visualization of data for leadership decision-makingExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsActive Secret ClearanceDesired Experience/CertificationsBachelor's (BS) and/or Master (MS) degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent experience (10+ years) - strongly preferred but not requiredCertified, CompTIA Security+Oracle Certified Associate and/or MS SQL certification is a plusExperience supporting teams in AWS environments (GovCloud a plus)Experience supporting or participating in Product Release related activitiesKnowledge and experience with automation; reducing manual activitiesMore Information: Requirements of position: Think analytically, effective verbal and written communication skills, make decisions, observe/remember details, interpret data, concentrate on tasks, adjust to change, handle stress/emotions.
