We seek an application developer to work with our growing early-stage company, My Coverage Plan, Inc to develop tools and applications that help people identify and optimize health coverage. This position will start as 100% remote and transition to a hybrid model with some time in office, so it’s preferred that you live in the general area of Madison WI or plan to relocate. The best candidate will be able to learn very quickly, flexibly prioritize tasks, and creatively solve real-world problems with minimal assistance. You will be responsible for our innovative and patented decision support technology that identifies appropriate health coverage options and generates an electronic document (interoperable with EMR's) of current and future public and private healthcare coverage options. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Application Developer must have extensive knowledge of Object Oriented Programming concepts, Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, along with solid related experience. Understanding of NoSQL databases and modern cloud architecture very valuable. You will understand business needs and requirements, create solutions, plan, research, develop logic, code, test, and deploy Web projects with minimal assistance. You should know how to build a web application from the ground up, as well as modify and build on existing Java, JavaScript and HTML code. The candidate will be responsible for our current products and planning the integration of new technologies. You will oversee database management and administration. You will act as a liaison for company development projects with third party vendors, consultants and clients. Responsibilities include: Technical Develop, deploy, and maintain full-stack web applications Define custom application or new module specifications based on requirements Ensure quality work through development and implementation of QA procedures Oversee, manage, and configure local and cloud based servers and network infrastructure Development Management Creatively outline work task breakdowns for programming of new projects Accurately create estimates for work completion and meet them Proactively and regularly provide updates and required reporting Work with team to educate them about programming solutions Team Collaboration Manage business relationships with subject matter experts, junior developers, vendors and consultants. Help manage requirements and coordinate interns and contractors KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS B.S. in Computer Science (completed or underway) or related work experience Five or more years of development experience in front-end Javascript and/or server-side Java Experience building interactive, high traffic, database driven web applications Advanced experience with HTML, CSS, Web APIs, and MVC frameworks Two or more years Unix command line tools and server administration Experience managing and optimizing applications deployed to enterprise cloud environments, in particular Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, CloudFront) Database design and management, particularly in a distributed environment Familiarity with NoSQL, wide-column, and/or document store database paradigms is a plus Experience with git or a similar version control system Experience with networking and security (including TLS and certificate management) Solid understanding of both object-oriented and functional programming principles Advanced knowledge of web protocols (HTTP, websockets) and content servers Understanding of PII, HIPAA and HITECH regulations and technical considerations Enthusiasm for learning about code generation, Java virtual machine & bytecode, program language design, NoSQL, wide-column, and document store database paradigms Ability to self-initiate research and quickly learn skills needed for complex applications, infrastructure, data management, security and full-stack lifecycle management Able to work cooperatively and respectfully with community health and social service agencies and providers on individual cases and on larger group issues Contribute technical content for publications and grant reports and assist with other projects as assigned Strong communicator, able to interface between technical and non-technical audiences and translate needs of subject matter experts into software design with a strong UX focus My Coverage Plan, Inc. is an affirmative action employer.
