Working cross-functionally with photonics, systems, and test engineering teams, you will help translate cutting-edge technology into high-performance, manufacturable products.This is a hands-on, high-impact role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced R&D environment and enjoys taking ownership from concept through to product realisation.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine hardware architectures for next-generation optical transceiver modulesTranslate system-level requirements into optical, electrical, and mechanical specificationsDesign for reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiencyCollaborate closely with PIC teams to ensure seamless optical engine integrationOptimise optical coupling, alignment, and packaging approachesOversee high-speed PCB design, ensuring signal and power integritySupport integration of DSPs, drivers, and analogue front-end componentsConduct thermal modelling and develop cooling strategies for high-power modulesDevelop and execute module-level test and characterisation plansLead system-level validation in real-world or customer-like environmentsBuild, test, and troubleshoot early-stage prototypes at the benchEngage with external vendors and partners to qualify componentsDefine design-for-manufacture (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) strategiesEnsure compliance with relevant industry standards and reliability requirementsSupport technical discussions with customers and partnersRequired Skills & ExperienceDegree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related fieldProven experience in optical module or hardware developmentStrong background in high-speed electronics (e.g. PAM4, coherent links, SerDes)Expertise in signal integrity, RF design, and channel modellingExperience with optical packaging, fibre attach, and alignment techniquesKnowledge of thermal design and reliability testing in high-density systemsFamiliarity with industry standards (e.g. IEEE, MSAs, OIF)Hands-on experience with lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, BERTs, optical analysers)Experience with simulation/modelling tools (e.g. HFSS, ADS, COMSOL, Zemax, or similar)Understanding of DFM/DFT principles and reliability standardsStrong communication and collaboration skillsWhat’s on OfferSalary in the the range $200-250K + bonusOpportunity to work on cutting-edge technology shaping the future of AI infrastructureCollaborative, high-calibre engineering environmentFast-paced, innovative culture with strong opportunities for growthCompetitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits packageEqual Opportunity StatementThe company is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all qualified individuals regardless of background.
