Job Description & Requirements Specialty: LDRP - Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum Discipline: RN Start Date: 06/01/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Jun 1, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and the ability to float across all birth center roles including triage, postpartum, newborn care, and OR circulating. Details Acute care hospital setting with a 14-bed LDRP unit where laboring patients remain in the same room throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum Unit also includes 2 OR suites (staffed for C-sections), 3 triage beds, and a 5-bed Level 2 Special Care Nursery for infants >1800g Special Care Nursery cares for infants requiring phototherapy, blood glucose management, opiate withdrawal management, antibiotics, respiratory support, and grower/feeder care Common patient diagnoses include multiples (twins, not triplets), VBACs, high-risk patients (HTN/hemorrhage), antepartum preterm labor, infections, and post-op GYN Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 for active labor and through recovery, dedicated baby nurse at every birth, up to 1:3 in the Special Care Nursery based on acuity, and 1:2-3 couplets for recovered moms RNs are required to titrate drips including Mag and Pitocin per physician order, and monitor epidurals post-initiation with rates set by Anesthesia Centricity Perinatal used for fetal heart monitoring; EPIC used for medical records — no monitor techs, RNs are responsible for interpreting their own fetal strips 12-hour night shifts (1900–0730), three shifts per week Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday for overnights) First to float within the birth center only — floating roles include L&D nurse, triage, baby nurse for normal newborn transitions, postpartum (couplet care), and OR circulator; no floating outside the birth center Floating to the Special Care Nursery only if the candidate has Level 2 nursery experience and it is agreed upon prior to the start of the contract No on-call or standby requirement Requirements Active WA state RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Current BLS and NRP certifications required — pending certifications not accepted Minimum of 2 years of L&D experience required Triage experience required Level 2 nursery experience required for newborn care responsibilities Labor nurses must be able to circulate C-sections; scrubbing experience preferred but not required Experience titrating OB drips (Mag, Pitocin) and monitoring epidurals required A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Additional Information 2-day unit orientation with a preceptor Hospital scrubs are provided and required Holidays are rotated with permanent staff OB or certified midwife is in-house 24/7; neonatal hospitalists are on-site 24/5 and within 30 minutes at all other times A dedicated anesthesia team is in-house specifically for OB; a surgical tech is available 24/7 for C-sections A charge nurse is present on every shift overseeing the department without a patient assignment Small, collaborative team — candidates who are strong team players and willing to contribute across roles are encouraged to apply Traveler-friendly environment with a positive team culture among current staff and providers Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year — candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered American Traveler Job ID P-687843.
