Details Acute care Birthing Center with 34 total L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds Patient population includes high-risk cases such as preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and psych/social presentations at 33 weeks gestation and above, averaging 150–180 births per month Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 for L&D and 1:3–4 for mother-baby couplets RNs are required to titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin Centricity Perinatal is used as the EFM system; Epic is the EMR 12-hour night shifts; every other weekend (Friday and Saturday nights) Floating is within the department only — travelers may be assigned to postpartum and must be competent in routine mother-baby care; no floating to NICU On-call/standby response time required within 45 minutes Free charge nurses on both shifts; one surgical tech is available 24/7, along with a patient care assistant on each shift 24/7 in-house OB/GYN hospitalist, NNP in the nursery, and OB anesthesia provider on unit Holidays are rotated with permanent staff Block scheduling is available when requested Requirements Active WA state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses will not be accepted Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — all must be active; pending certifications will not be accepted Intermediate or advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification preferred Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered with multiple prior travel assignments Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections Must be comfortable assisting with catching and transitioning newborns Epic EMR experience required Driver's license copy required for consideration 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire BSN not required Additional Information Responsibilities include high-risk L&D nursing care, fetal monitoring, drip titration, C-section circulating, and postpartum couplet care Travelers must also be able to perform routine postpartum care and attend low-risk deliveries Orientation consists of an 8-hour compliance day with the manager, an 8-hour Epic class, and 2–3 additional 12-hour unit-specific orientation shifts Scrubs are provided by the facility; a locker is also provided The unit manager is actively engaged with traveler performance and expects openness to facility workflows, policies, and feedback Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered First-time travelers will not be considered for this position American Traveler Job ID P-688181.
