Scripting & Automation Engineer (Python / Fortinet / SD-WAN)Location: Remote/South FloridaType: Contract 6+mos.OverviewWe’re looking for a Scripting & Automation Engineer to help streamline and scale network operations through automation. This role will focus heavily on building Python-based solutions and working within Fortinet environments (FortiGate, SD-WAN) to improve efficiency, reliability, and visibility across the network.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain Python scripts to automate network and operational tasksAutomate configuration, monitoring, and reporting across Fortinet (FortiGate) and SD-WAN environmentsIntegrate network systems with APIs and external platforms for improved data flow and orchestrationSupport network provisioning, configuration changes, and troubleshooting through automationCollaborate with network engineers and IT teams to identify automation opportunitiesMaintain and enhance scripts for performance, scalability, and reliabilityDocument automation processes, scripts, and workflows for internal useAssist in managing environments across development, testing, and productionRequired QualificationsStrong experience with Python scripting (automation, APIs, data handling)Hands-on experience with Fortinet technologies, especially:FortiGateSD-WANExperience working with REST APIs and system integrationsSolid understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, firewalls)Experience with automation tools and frameworksFamiliarity with version control (Git) and structured deployment practicesAbility to troubleshoot and optimize both scripts and network performancePreferred QualificationsExperience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)Experience with monitoring/logging toolsKnowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesFortinet certifications (NSE)What Success Looks LikeReduced manual network tasks through effective automationImproved network performance and reliabilityFaster deployment and configuration changes across SD-WAN environmentsClear, maintainable documentation and reusable automation frameworks
