Mortgage Loan Officer - Treasure Valley
Job DescriptionThe Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for the origination of term mortgage loans for sale on the secondary mortgage market. He or she conducts initial pre-qualification interviews and prepares complete loan application packages and necessary documentation, conveys policies for extension of credit in accordance with Bank and secondary investor guidelines, and meets scheduling and documentation requirements and production expectations as determined by the Senior Vice President of Residential Mortgage Lending. The Mortgage Loan Officer serves customers, prospective customers, builders, developers, and realtors promptly and professionally. In addition, he or she provides general bank information, cross-sells services, and helps other Mortgage Loan personnel as necessary.QualificationsMust be at least 18 years oldHigh school diploma or GED requiredActive license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry or the ability to obtain suchMortgage loan processing/lending experience preferredReal estate background helpfulKnowledge of Bank loan policies, products, procedures, processing, and underwriting guidelines preferredFamiliarity with title reports, insurance, and appraisals preferredStrong interviewing skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsGood analytical and financial skillsAble to operate related computer applications, calculator, and other basic business equipmentAble to accommodate and get along well with coworkersAble to work in a fast-paced environment with a large amount of stressResponsibilitiesInterviews, takes applications, and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests, discussing loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from customersPerforms follow-up work as necessary to achieve conditional approval within established time framesNotifies customer if loan is referred back to Officer because of problem ratios or credit ratingsAdvises customers of loan approval or denial and explains loan denials precisely and clearly to customersCompletes lending operations in accordance with established Bank policies and legal requirementsInforms customers of Bank loan policies and servicesCounsels customers regarding money management and financial matters and customers whose loan requests were denied, explaining reasons and alternativesCoordinates functions with related departments and Branches and provides support as neededHelps other area personnel as requiredKeeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems or concernsAttends and participates in meetings and committees as requiredStays informed regarding changes in lending standards, related legal requirements, and trends in local real estate and competitive marketCompletes required reports and records accurately and promptlyCross-sells bank services by maintaining a general working knowledge of all bank productsPromotes D.L.
