Senior Accountant

This role focuses on leading core accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting for a dynamic and growth-oriented organization. You will play a key role in managing general ledger functions, month-end close activities, reconciliations, job costing, compliance, and internal controls while supporting business performance and operational excellence.The position spans the full accounting lifecycle—from journal entries and account reconciliations to financial reporting, audits, process improvements, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with finance leadership, operations teams, and staff accountants to maintain financial accuracy, improve efficiencies, and strengthen internal accounting processes.Key Responsibilities:Lead general ledger activities, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and adjustmentsReview journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by staff to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentationPerform and oversee complex account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely mannerLead components of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and results are accurateReview financial transactions and ensure proper classification in accordance with GAAP and company policyOversee job setup and closeout processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls, approvals, and data integrityMonitor job-related financial activity and partner with operations teams to ensure accurate job costing and reportingDevelop, document, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and proceduresIdentify process improvement opportunities and drive efficiencies across accounting operationsSupport internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiriesProvide guidance and mentorship to associate and staff accountants; review work and support developmentPartner cross-functionally with operations, finance, and other departments to support business initiatives and resolve issuesBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required5+ years of progressive accounting experience requiredPublic accounting experience preferredStrong technical accounting knowledge with deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controlsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to resolve complex accounting issuesHighly organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesEffective written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain accounting concepts clearlyAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teamsHigh level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential informationAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelPreferred Qualifications:Experience with Power BI or other data analytics/reporting toolsExperience in construction, industrial, or project-based accounting environmentsCPA or CPA-track candidate preferredExperience mentoring junior accounting staffStrong background in job costing, budgeting, and operational finance supportExperience improving processes and implementing internal control enhancements
