Director, Supply Chain

Working at the heart of an organization obsessed with product, quality and flavor, you will collaborate internally with all core functions (finance, marketing, sales, product development, and operations), build strong commercial relationships with existing supply partners around the world, and define new supply chain solutions for new products in new regions and channels.You will directly impact the P&L by procuring all product components (tea, botanicals & packaging) with competitively advantaged costs, terms, quality and timing while commercializing new products that unlock new category growth. Initially, your team will be responsible for procurement, contract manufacturing, and production control.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership – work as part of the leadership team to shape the company growth strategy, and craft long term supply strategies (i.e. vendor managed inventory) for existing ingredients and materials, and develop growth through new contract manufacturing relationshipsSales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Leadership – lead the monthly S&OP cycle by working closely with Sales channel leaders, Production Control, and Operations team to understand inventory, product demand, and supply requirements for internal ingredients and packaging and external contract manufacturingTechnology & Systems Management – utilize NetSuite for planning, procurement, and inventory management, utilize Microsoft Office Suite for communications and document controlStrategic Sourcing – work closely with Strategic Tea Sourcing Specialist (direct report) and Product & Marketing teams to understand ingredient and packaging specifications, and identify sources that deliver competitive advantageAdvanced Negotiation – work closely with the Finance team and Suppliers around the world to secure competitively advantaged pricing, terms and deliveryProcurement – direct Procurement Specialist (direct report) to execute transactions and evaluate Supply Chain strategies such as vendor managed inventorySupplier Management – partner with core suppliers to develop constructive operating relationships and consistent delivery of on-spec materials.Regulatory Compliance & Food Safety – support Quality by acquiring requested documentation and certificates for all ingredients, execute routine quality / food safety testing, and work with Quality and Operations teams to execute food safety auditsCommercialization – work with Product & Marketing teams to understand new product & packaging concepts and develop the strategy and supply chain solutions – internal or external - to bring differentiated products to marketContract Manufacturing – develop a contract manufacturing strategy and work with a network of contract manufacturers to manage capacity, pricing, quality and operational logisticsRisk Management – develop contingency plans to ensure consistent product supply across volatile demand schedules.In-Bound Logistics – work with global logistics providers to ensure on-time at-quality delivery of all materialsTeam Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration – design supply chain staffing strategy and work with other departments to achieve company objectivesCore CompetenciesCritical Thinking: Ability to see the big picture over the long term, and to break that down into actionable goals, plans and metricsFinancial Acumen: Ability to identify financial issues, opportunities and impact, particularly as it relates to P&L management and ingredient costsProblem Solving: Comfort in ambiguous situations and the ability to define criteria, alternatives, analysis, and provide recommendations that others can understand and followAgility: Ability to drive focus, progress, and improvement in a high growth environment that is constantly evolvingExecution & Follow-Through: Ability to prioritize issues and opportunities to consistently deliver resultsAttention to Detail: Ability to execute on deliverables while managing multiple details across multiple projectsCollaboration: Ability to create influential partnerships with teamakers across the organization, and with key partners across the industryCommunication: Ability to articulate simple, actionable solutions to complex problems at every level of the organizationContinuous Improvement: Streamline processes and eliminate waste by improving processes and developing SOP'sCapability Development: Ability to develop high potential teamakers so they can grow personally, professionally and commercially.Experience8-10 years of Supply Chain management with demonstrated success in food manufacturing or CPGProven success leading S&OP processes and aligning cross-functional teamsHands-on experience with Procurement ExecutionExperience negotiating and managing contract manufacturingIn-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and experience ensuring complianceEducationBachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related fieldMBA, CPIM, CSCP, PMP, or Six Sigma is a plusPhysical, Driving & Travel RequirementsThis position is full time in the office at 110 SE Washington St with some flexibility around hours, focused time at home.This position will require domestic (approximately 5-10 trips/year) and international travel (approximately 3-4 trips/year)While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.Competitive wage commensurate with experience and performanceFully paid medical, alternative care, vision, and dental insurance; STD/LTD, Life and AD&DD coverage.
