Litigation Legal Assistant
Position SummaryA mid-sized law firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to support partner-level attorneys in a fast-paced litigation practice. The ideal candidate will bring at least four years of litigation support experience, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple active matters with competing deadlines.ResponsibilitiesPrepare, edit, proofread, and format litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and correspondenceE-file documents in Illinois state courts, appellate courts, and federal courts in compliance with applicable rules and deadlinesMaintain litigation calendars and track all court-ordered and internal deadlines, including scheduling and briefing timelinesAssist with all phases of discovery, including document production and preparation of templates and shells for pleadings and discoveryCoordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and attorney/client meetingsSupport trial preparation, including organization of trial materials and exhibit bindersMaintain accurate and organized electronic case files and document management systemsReview and process attorney time entries for accuracy and completionProvide administrative support such as calendar management, scheduling, and routine correspondenceCommunicate professionally with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and external vendorsManage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentQualificationsMinimum of four years of litigation legal assistant experience within a law firmStrong working knowledge of Illinois state and federal court filing proceduresExperience with electronic filing systems across multiple jurisdictionsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systemsExcellent grammar, proofreading, and document formatting skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlinesHigh level of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive informationAbility to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
