Job Title: Crew Member, Pole ReinforcementPosition Summary: The Pole Reinforcement Crew Member supports field operations by assisting in the installation of metal reinforcing brackets on wood utility poles. This role involves hands-on labor, use of tools and equipment, and working as part of a team to ensure structural integrity and safety of utility infrastructure.Key Responsibilities:Assist with the installation of metal reinforcing brackets, bands, and hardware on existing wood utility polesPerform manual labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, digging and moving materials as neededAssist in loading and unloading materials, tools or equipment at job sites or within facilitiesHandle, transport, and stage materials and tools at job sitesSupport pole preparation activities, including cleaning, measuring, and marking placement areasOperate basic hand tools, power tools and machinery under supervision as directed by crew leaders or supervisorsMaintain awareness of safety procedures, including traffic, and electrical hazardsSecure work zones by setting up barriers, removing debris and organizing materials and toolsFollow instructions from crew leaders and supervisors to complete tasks efficientlyInspect materials and report any defects or issuesMaintain inventory levels by conducting stock checks and reporting shortages or damagesMaintain a clean and organized work environment on-site and in vehicles, ensuring they are free of hazards and clutterFollow safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for oneself and othersReport any and all safety hazards, incidents or injuries immediatelyCommunicate effectively with all team membersAssist in training others to complete tasks efficiently and meet project goalsQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious experience in general labor, construction, utility work, or outdoor labor preferredGood driving record and ability to obtain DOT driver qualificationAbility to use hand and power tools safelyProven ability to perform assigned task at or above expected levelsDemonstrated ability to train others in basic tasksBasic understanding of safety and protocols in a work environmentAbility to follow instructions and work as part of a teamAdaptability and willingness to learn new tasks or skillsStrong work ethic and reliabilityAbility to perform fieldwork, proficient use of a shovel to excavateWillingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to travel a minimum of 75%.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing 50–75+ lbs on a frequent basisCapability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods, including digging, bending, kneeling, and climbingSufficient strength, balance, and coordination to safely handle tools, equipment, and materials in uneven or outdoor terrainAbility to stand and walk for long durations throughout the workdayTolerance for working in various environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, wind, and rainManual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and small machinery safely and effectivelyAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, harnesses, and steel-toed bootsVisual acuity sufficient to identify hazards, read measurements, and inspect materialsMental Requirements:Ability to understand, follow, and carry out verbal and written instructions accuratelyStrong attention to detail to ensure proper installation and adherence to safety standardsSituational awareness to recognize and respond to potential hazards, including traffic and electrical risksAbility to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, physically demanding environmentProblem-solving skills to address routine job-site challenges and adapt to changing conditionsDependability and accountability in completing assigned tasks safely and efficientlyAbility to communicate clearly with supervisors and team membersCapacity to remain focused and productive while performing repetitive tasksWillingness to learn new skills, accept feedback, and participate in ongoing trainingAbility to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks as directedFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPay Range: $20.00-23.00 HourlyReports to: Supervisor, Field OperationsNote: The above job description is a general overview of the responsibilities and requirements typically associated with the role of a Pole Reinforcement Crew Member.
