This role is critical to maintaining the firm’s financial integrity and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing for services rendered to clients.Under minimal direct supervision, the Senior Billing Coordinator is responsible for compiling, managing and executing attorney billing.Responsibilities/DutiesInterface with attorneys, secretaries, clients and staff regarding billing mattersCompile, analyze and process a high volume of attorney bills to clients on a monthly basisReview and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requestsApply retainer/on-account funds as directed by attorney and as per Firm policyProcess write-offs according to Firm guidelines and policyExecute complex bills, such as multiple discounts by matter, split party billing, and preparation of electronic bills, in a timely matterSubmit invoices electronically, assisting with bill resolution as requiredReview billing supporting documentation for accuracyResearch and verify descriptions, amounts, rates, client/matter data and client billing requirements and make appropriate correctionsCreate billing schedules and various billing analyses as requiredEffectively interact and communicate with attorneys, secretaries and clients providing accurate information and timely responses to inquiry and completion of assignmentsDistribute monthly partner reportsRegularly review and update comments for reports distributed to the Finance Committee and PartnersAttend Partner meetings and weekly management meetings to review unbilled matter comments, matter on-accounts, and e-billing issuesWork cooperatively with Collections staff and assist with accounts receivable issues to minimize credit balancesMentor and train new Billing Coordinators as directedAssist with special projects as neededPerform other duties as assignedRequired SkillsAbility to effectively present information verbally and in writingAbility to use an accounting calculatorProficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly in ExcelHigh level of proficiency with 3EAbility to work independently with minimum supervisionStrong attention to detailExcellent analytical and problem solving skillsCan organize, prioritize, plan and multi-task work activities, with the ability to effectively meet deadlines in a high pressure environmentFlexibility to adapt to all work situations and work varied hoursPreferred SkillsFamiliarity with E-billing Hub and Multi currency preferredRequired ExperienceA minimum of 3 to 5 years of billing experience in a large law firm requiredPreferred Experience5 plus years of billing experience preferredRequired EducationHigh School diploma or GED equivalentPreferred EducationBachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, preferred, or, equivalent combination of education and experiencePreferred QualificationsDegree in Accounting preferredSalary InformationNY only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $95k to $115k at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
