Downsizing Specialists assist in creating a compassionate, efficient, and positive experience for each of our customers. The Downsizers is the leading full-service move management team in the Triangle, specializing in serving the senior community and individuals in transition. We proudly serve the entire Triangle region (including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Durham, Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Morrisville, Holly Springs, Hillsborough, Fuquay-Varina, and surrounding areas). The Downsizers work in private homes, apartment complexes and senior communities.Many of our projects are physically demanding and occur under tight deadlines. Some projects take place under emotional and challenging situations. Candidates need to be adaptable and compassionate.The Downsizing Specialist will support the Project Manager and Team Lead, as well as work with a team of other Specialists through completion of the project. This role exists to provide hands-on service that helps clients navigate complex and often emotional transitions with care, professionalism, and attention to detail.Working closely with the Downsizing Manager and Team Lead, the Downsizing Specialist follows customized Move Plans and timelines, supports on-site execution, and represents The Downsizers’ values in every client interaction.Core Accountabilities  1. Project Preparation & ExecutionPartner with the Downsizing Manager and Team Lead to implement customized Move Plans and timelinesPrepare for projects by reviewing job details, client and shift notes, and feed instructions before arriving on site to projectsUtilize project management tools to support timely and organized completion of workMaintain ongoing communication in the project feed throughout the engagementRecommendations on schedule changes should be communicated to the Project Manager through email (not the project feeds)2. Client Service & Decision SupportProvide the highest level of client service at all timesAssist clients in determining which items to keep, donate, gift, sell, or discardCommunicate clearly, compassionately, and professionally with clients and family membersSupport clients through emotionally sensitive decisions with patience and careProvide sorting services prior to the move utilizing various techniques provided in training to help support client decision-making.Confirm with the Team Lead or Project Manager for items that convey, as well as items for auction, consignment, donation, and/or junk hauling prior to pick ups to ensure all items are accurately and efficiently are removed and delivered to their proper locations.3. Packing, Moving & Settling SupportProfessionally pack client belongings and prepare items for transportCoordinate with movers and assist with unpacking and settling into new homes\Support organizing, placement of belongings, and home setup as directed4. Logistics, Vehicles & Physical SupportDrive 14-ft ProMaster High-Roof Van safely and responsibly, (training provided) modeling professionalism and care as a visible representative of The Downsizers’ brandLoad and unload supplies before and after projectsHandle supplies, equipment, and client property safely and responsibly5. Systems, Communication & FeedbackAccurately document required project information in systemsMaintain clear communication with the Downsizing Manager and Lead SpecialistProvide feedback and insights to leadership to support continuous improvement6. Training, Culture & Team ParticipationSupport development of new Downsizing Specialists with shadowing and learning opportunitiesComplete required online, in-office, and on-site training programsParticipate in team meetings and collaborative planning sessionsRepresent The Downsizers’ culture of compassion, collaboration, trust, critical thinking, joy, and exceptional serviceQualificationsSkills & Experience RequiredStrong interest in working with and supporting older adults and individuals in transitionExcellent attention to detail and strong critical-thinking skillsClear verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse personalitiesAbility to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environmentComfortable using technology and internal toolsTeam-oriented, teachable, adaptable, and collaborativeEducation RequirementsHigh school diploma requiredBachelor’s degree preferredWorking Style & ExpectationsCompassionate, patient, and client-focusedReliable, accountable, and solutions-orientedFlexible and willing to support team needsComfortable performing hands-on, physical workAvailability & Physical RequirementsAbility to work 3 or more days per week for six or more hours per dayAbility to lift up to 35 pounds and perform physical work during shiftsValid driver’s license and comfort driving company vehiclesEmployment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.Additional InformationBenefitsMedical, Dental, and Vision Benefits offered to employees that average 30+ hours per week401(k) PlanPaid trainingPaid OvertimePaid Volunteer Opportunity towards Community ServiceWith advance planning, you can easily take vacations as needed or time off to be with your family.Mileage Reimbursement for client projectsAccess to Trade DiscountsHourly Rate: $19/hour (advancement opportunities with rate increases are available with time and experience)The Downsizers tackle everything as a team and we've created a culture that sets us apart from other businesses.
