Financial Cost Accountant/ Analyst

Summary/ObjectiveThe Financial Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial and operational data to evaluate profitability, cost trends, and overall operational effectiveness. This position will be responsible for designing and implementing the necessary tools into Business Central that are required for proper collection and analysis of project costs. This role partners closely with Sales, Operations, Estimating, and Project Management to ensure accurate cost reporting, improve processes, and support data-driven decision-making aligned with the Company’s strategic goals.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and interpret accounting and operational data to evaluate profitability, cost drivers, trends, and variances impacting business performanceReview sales order packages for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with financial and operational requirementsTrack open orders and prepare weekly projections and forecastsPerform product and job cost analysis, identifying discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and margin improvementDevelop, maintain, and enhance KPI dashboards and reporting tools tied to the Company’s strategic planRecommend improvements to financial processes, controls, and policies to reduce costs and maximize profitabilitySupport annual external audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiriesCollaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Estimating, and Project Management to ensure accurate costing and financial visibilityAssist with and/or lead ad hoc financial analysis projects as assignedAssist with month end and other accounting responsibilities as requiredPerform other duties as required to support Finance and business operationsRequired Skills/AbilitiesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skillsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and financial modelingWorking knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger transactionsExperience with ERP systems; Microsoft Business Central experience is a plusExperience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) is a plusExcel programming or automation experience (VBA) is a plusAbility to exercise sound judgment within established guidelineStrong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholdersDetail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesEducation And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related fieldMinimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis, cost accounting, or a related rolePhysical RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
