PROJECT HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER
Provide professional/technical safety consultation to BZS’s clients.
Provide leadership in the area of client Health and Safety to influence performance, and recognize excellent safety standards and successes.
Provide safety training to all levels of Management and field employees.
Keep management informed of regulatory changes and potential risk/exposures to the client.
Lead and or participate in project/client Health and Safety initiatives.
Minimize potential penalties for civil, criminal prosecution and adverse publicity.
Responsible for project client intervention in the areas of developing and promoting customer relations with clients, owners, government agencies, general contractors and sub-contractors.
Keep management informed on company safety performance or non-performance by tracking safety trends, leading/trailing indicators for the project.
Develop safety programs that will help the project achieve critical success factors.
Provide the structure and framework for management processes; ensuring safety is an integrated part of the company’s core values.
Provide problem analysis and resolution to complicated safety issues and concerns.
Escalate safety issues to client EHS management and Operations Management that require management action.
Recognize projects and individuals that meet established milestones and reward excellent safety performance and behavior on the job.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QAULIFICATIONS
Prefer Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene or safety-related field with a minimum of ten years of experience in the construction industry preferred.
A combination of 10 years’ education, SHE training, and full-time safety experience may be considered in lieu of the bachelor's degree.
Strong organizational/ management capabilities
Business acumen, problem solving skills, intellectual maturity, and relationship management skills
OSHA 500 and CHST or CSP preferred
MS Office (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
PROJECT HEALTH AND SAFETY COORDINATOR (LEVEL 2)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Interpret and apply Cal- OSHA Safety Orders and host employer safety program/policies and procedures.
Perform administrative functions as directed by Management.
Conducts daily inspections of the site(s) to ensure work is being performed safely.
Review job hazards analyses to identify hazards and potential risks.
Makes recommendations on safety improvements.
Monitor incident prevention plans and activity hazard analysis, and ensure subcontractor compliance with all safety and health requirements.
Conducts or participate in incident investigations for near misses, first aid, and other incidents.
Provide safety orientation for new employees and other construction site visitors. Coordinate other SHE activities within a structured client program.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 3 years’ safety experience on commercial construction projects
First-aid/CPR Certified
OSHA 30 Hour Certificate required
Current HAZWOPER Certification
Ability to follow directions and to report unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of Cal-OSHA as applied to the construction industry.
Proficient Computer skills, Microsoft Suite (word, power point, excel)
Ability to understand, interpret and apply regulatory requirements applicable to the project scope of work.
Ability to work with all levels of staff including the general public.
Bachelor degree and or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification is desired but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50.00 - $62.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
