Nephrologist Opportunity- Santa Clara, CA

The Permanente Medical Group is actively seeking a BE/BC Nephrologist to join our team in Santa Clara, CA.The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. is one of the largest medical groups in the nation with over 10,000 physicians, 21 medical centers, numerous clinics throughout Northern and Central California and a 80-year tradition of providing quality medical care.Cover one hospital and 2 clinicsSanta Clara is a large tertiary medical center – active cardiac surgery service, LVAD/Ecmo program, post heart transplant service and we are a center of excellence for Oncology. We are a team of 7 nephrologist ( one is retiring and hence the hire) and 5 renal case managers. We have the largest peritoneal dialysis unit with 240 peritoneal dialysis patients (owned by Kaiser). Unit is located close to San Jose airport. Unit has 12 nurses,3 social workers, 4 dietitians and a renal case manager. We round on our hemodialysis patients monthly at contracted dialysis units.Clinics – Mostly Santa Clara, 10% at Skyport (satellite clinic near San Jose airport)On call – cover one hospital SCH, average patient load 25 patients. Call is a week stretch every 6 weeks.Dialysis rounding – round on dialysis patients at one dialysis clinic (maybe 2 due to expansion)Rotation at Skyport – attend clinic and cover our peritoneal dialysis unit one week every 6 weeks. Responsible for seeing all peritoneal dialysis patients who come to the dialysis unit for their monthly visits.Teaching- Residency program (internal medicine, podiatry, gyn, emergency medicine) medical students from Boston Medical University and Stanford medical school, Kaiser Nephrology Fellows rotate in Nephrology. Ample opportunity to teach, mentor research projects.Leadership – each Nephrologist leads projects regionally and locally- will be encouraged as a pathway to improving leadership skills.
