Our Freedom Mathematics approach bridges foundational math gaps, foster strong math identities, and create engaging, meaningful learning experiences that ignite a passion for mathematics. Role DescriptionThis is a temporary, on-site role for a Summer Math Instructor located in Pasadena, CA. The Summer Math Instructor will create engaging and effective lesson plans, deliver mathematics instruction to diverse learners, and evaluate student progress. The instructor will also collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve curriculum materials while fostering a positive and supportive learning environment during the summer program.We are looking for educators who are passionate about student confidence, math identity, and closing foundational gaps in a meaningful way. Responsibilities: Participate in all designated professional development sessions hosted by Equation 2 SuccessDevelop a comprehensive understanding of E2S’s pedagogical framework, instructional practices, and program goalsIntegrate E2S’s instructional approach with your own educational background, experiences, and teaching stylesDeliver Skoolturf lessons and facilitate program activities for rising 7th and/or 8th grade students with fidelity and professionalismCreate engaging, meaningful learning experiences that foster student curiosity and a genuine passion for mathematicsFacilitate activities that bridge foundational math gaps and build strong mathematical identities in studentsMaintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment throughout the summer programCollaborate with the E2S team to continuously improve the student learning experience throughout the programCommunicate openly with program leadership regarding student progress, challenges, and classroom needsQualificationsStrong background in Mathematics with relevant coursework or professional experienceExperience in Lesson Planning and Curriculum DevelopmentQualifications as a Teacher or related training in Mathematics EducationAbility to tailor teaching strategies to diverse learning needsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsPrior experience teaching or tutoring math is preferredDegree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field is a plus
