Tax Strategist (Part-Time, Remote)
Pivot Tax Strategy is seeking an experienced Tax Strategist to support our growing client base through high-quality tax strategy execution and client fulfillment.This role is focused on delivering exceptional client outcomes—including tax return preparation and reviews, implementation of tax strategies, and clear, proactive client communication. You will serve as a key technical expert, ensuring clients receive accurate, compliant, and strategic tax support.This position is ideal for an experienced EA or CPA who enjoys hands-on client work and meaningful impact—without people management responsibilities or a 30+ hour work week.Must HavesStrong knowledge of tax for both filing and strategy purposesEA or CPA credentials (required)Minimum 5 years of business tax experienceExperience with S Corps, partnerships, and high-income individualsWhat You’ll DoClient Fulfillment & Tax Strategy ExecutionReview tax returns for accuracy and strategic alignment (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065)Apply tax strategy recommendations and ensure proper implementationPerform quarterly estimated tax calculations for business ownersEnsure tax filings are complete, accurate, and compliant with current tax lawSupport e-file readiness and filing accuracyTax Review & Technical ExpertiseIdentify tax-saving opportunities and risks during return reviewEnsure tax positions align with strategy and regulatory requirementsStay current on tax law changes and apply them appropriately to client situationsClient CommunicationCommunicate with clients via email to answer questions and provide clarity on tax mattersSupport follow-up related to tax strategy implementation and filingsCollaborate with internal team members to ensure client updates and changes are reflected accuratelyIRS & Issue ResolutionHandle IRS notices and resolution as needed (EA or CPA required)Support clients through tax-related issues with professionalism and clarityRequirementsEA or CPA requiredMinimum 5 years of tax preparation and review experienceStrong working knowledge of IRS procedures, tax planning, and complianceExperience with S Corps, partnerships, and complex individual returnsStrong working knowledge of QBOAvailable during standard business hours (9am–5pm EST) for client communication and collaborationAbility to attend standing team meetingsBonus SkillsFamiliarity with ProConnect, TaxDome, ClickUpStrong organizational and follow-up skillsAbility to manage multiple client deliverables efficientlySchedule20-30 hours per week, depending on workload and availabilityLocationRemote (U.S.-based, EST time zone required)Compensation & BenefitsHourlyFlexible scheduleWork from home
