Support Staff Job Description CookGeneral Statement Of Duty: Demonstrate reading, writing and math ability. Ability to follow detailed instructions. Ability to help and maintain a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria. Neat and clean appearance. General understanding of school cafeteria operation.Organizational Relationships Reports to lead cook.Primary Duties: The following statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and other key duties that may be required. The district reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of this job at anytime.Assists in the preparation and serving of breakfast and lunch menus as directed.Ensure the quality of food preparation. Follow guideline and instruction on serving sizes, portion control and nutrition.Provide rapid service of meals and strictly adhere to schedules.Assists in the daily clean up of the kitchen, cafeteria and service areas.Follow all food sanitation, health and safety standards. Perform daily and periodic cleaning tasks as directed.Receive and inventory food and supplies as directed.Cooperate with Food Service Director concerning mutual problems and concerns.Attend periodic staff meetings for training and new information.Participate in various safety/sanitation or food service workshops to keep informed of current information. Other duties as assigned.Necessary Special Requirements (Scope Of Interpersonal Contacts) High School Diploma or equivalent. Participates in safety/sanitation classes and maintains all needed endorsements. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate professionally with parents, students and school personnel. Maintains confidentiality.Work Environment And Physical Demands: Work is generally performed within a standard commercial kitchen. Must be able to stand, sit, walk, reach and lift 50 pounds. Must have good hand, arm and finger dexterity. Must be able to tolerate extreme temperature changes (i.e. freezer, stove and steam tables.) Repetitive motion is often required in the performance of daily tasks.Work Agreement: 9-month Pay scale column D
