Application Developer (AI-Native)

The role Gensync is a Denver-based AI services and platform company. We're building the internal platform we use to run our own business, with AI in the core of how the work gets done rather than bolted on around it. And we build it the same way we want it used: agentic coding tools aren't a side feature of our process, they're the center of it. The founder is technical and has led the build to this point. We're looking for a developer who works the same way. Someone who runs their whole workflow through tools like Claude Code and gets real throughput out of it, while keeping the architecture coherent enough that it still makes sense six months from now. You'd work directly with the founder, and you'd be our first and only dedicated developer, but this will leave real room to grow into something bigger over time. You'll own features end to end and have big impact on the platform. What this role isn't This isn't a job where "familiarity with AI tools" is a nice line on your résumé. If your actual workflow is hand-writing everything and occasionally asking a chatbot for a snippet, this isn't the fit. It's also not a pure code-generation role — we're not looking for someone who points an agent at a problem and ships whatever comes out. The hard part, and the part we're hiring for, is doing both: moving at AI speed *and* having the judgment to keep the codebase from turning into something nobody can reason about. What you'll actually do Build platform features end to end by driving the work through agentic coding tools.Run the full build cycle through the tools: scope, generate, review, test, iterate, at a velocity that traditional dev can't match.Own the architecture. Make and defend technical-direction calls. As AI-assisted output piles up, you're the reason it stays coherent instead of running away.Plan solutions and drive prioritization with the founder. Lead the conversations on what to build next, and write the architectural and design specs that get reviewed and used to lock direction before code gets written.Run independently, escalate the big bets. You'll have a lot of latitude on day-to-day decisions and you're expected to pull the founder in to validate assumptions and direction where the impact is high.Hold quality on AI-generated code. Review discipline and testing instincts applied to what the tools produce, not just what you hand-write.First 30 / 60 / 90 days 30: Up and shipping. You've landed real features in the platform and you understand the stack and the existing patterns.60: Owning slices independently. You're making architecture calls and the founder trusts the direction without close review.90: You're a force multiplier on the build with a velocity that is visibly higher than it was solo, and the codebase is healthier, not messier, for it.Schedule and structure Hours: ~20 hours/week to start, hourly.Employment type: Contractor (1099).Location: Remote-friendly within the US. Denver-area hybrid preferred. Mountain Time anchor.Compensation This is an hourly role at $55–75/hour, depending on experience. No equity at this stage. We're an early-stage company being deliberate with spend, optimizing for someone genuinely AI-fluent and driven over the longest résumé, and pricing accordingly. What you get instead of a big-company package is unusual scope: you'd own meaningful parts of a core product from the start and shape how it gets built. What you need to have Genuine, demonstrable fluency with agentic coding tools where you can show us how you actually work, not just say you use them.Real experience building applications end to end, enough to have instincts about architecture and where things go wrong.A track record of owning the direction of work, not just executing it. You've prioritized and managed a backlog in some form and made the calls about what gets built next.Working command of our stack: JavaScript / TypeScript, Next.js,Postgres with Drizzle (or an ORM you can pick up fast), and comfort building in a multi-tenant architecture.Judgment to set technical direction and keep velocity from producing a mess.The ability to plan solutions and write clear specs, along with the judgment to know which calls to make solo and which to validate with the founder first.Drive.
