Retail Associate at Fish Out of Water (Part Time)

Job Summary The position of Retail Associate is responsible for greeting all customers in a friendly and courteous way, selling merchandise, maintaining a neat and tidy store while also assisting customers with all questions and requests. Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions Energetically welcome customers and provide a friendly, courteous shopping experience Assist customers in selecting products and escort them to desired merchandise locations Maintain knowledge of store merchandise to answer questions and make recommendations Drives sales through engagement of customers and suggestive selling Keep clientele informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest Operate the register and POS system Manage financial transactions Documents sales by creating or updating customer profile records Upsell merchandise at appropriate times Maintain a clean and organized store Perform inventory and assist with stock organization Alerts management of potential security issues All other duties as assigned Education and Experience Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in basic English preferred Previous in-person customer experience preferred Previous retail experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Detail oriented and thorough Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant, friendly manner while maintaining a positive attitude focused on customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment Ability to remain calm in uncomfortable conflicts Ability to work as part of a team Knowledge of retail operations Ability to perform cash transactions accurately Knowledge of Microsoft office operations Excellent verbal and written communication skills Physical Demands Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time Ability to bend, reach, squat, and stretch while handling merchandise, stocking, or assisting customers Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Working Conditions Primarily located indoors on the sales floor Possible exposure to a somewhat noisy environment Use of cleaning chemicals (proper PPE provided) The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not an exclusive list of all duties and responsibilities.
