Not out of apathy — but because you know they can reach it, and lowering expectations is the true disservice. If that reasoning resonates, continue reading. If it feels too demanding, this position will likely not be the right fit.Students at Alpha don't passively absorb lectures. They advance through adaptive applications at double the speed of conventional classrooms while simultaneously developing practical life skills. Your responsibility is to ensure three core commitments are met for every student in your group: they enjoy learning, they progress at 2x speed, and they acquire competencies that traditional textbooks don't address. You will also mentor the Guides who uphold these same commitments throughout your campus. All choices are informed by data, and every interaction happens in person. Your time is divided between your own student group and the Guides you develop — and the expectation remains consistent for both: quantifiable growth, without compromise. When a Guide's session underperforms, you don't draft a memo; you observe, discuss, and resolve it the same day.You will witness reserved students present with poise to adults. You'll observe a learner who once "despised school" request to remain after hours. And you'll recognize that the standard you maintained is precisely what enabled their success, because upholding expectations demonstrates your belief in their capacity to meet them. You may be opening a completely new campus from the ground up and shaping the culture that will characterize the school. As the campus evolves, your role transitions from operational pioneer to coaching-focused leader, cultivating the team that extends Alpha's model throughout your area.If this appeals to you, submit your application now. What You Will Be DoingFacilitating one-hour interactive life skills and social-emotional learning (SEL) sessions with K-8 students covering subjects such as public speaking and concentration, adhering to Alpha's established frameworkConducting daily motivational sessions that ensure 100% of students reach their weekly app targets using age-appropriate incentives including school currency and leaderboardsDeveloping Guides through direct observation, specific feedback, and practical training so they facilitate sessions with equivalent energy and accuracyAnalyzing Coachbot data and student records to determine which students require intervention, then personally providing that supportDirectly mentoring your assigned cohort of students, demonstrating the coaching and motivational techniques you require from all GuidesWhat You Won’t Be DoingCreating lesson plans or developing curriculum. Students engage with adaptive apps; your role is to elevate the people supporting them.Delivering traditional classroom lectures. You're predominantly an entertainer (80%), minimally a content expert (20%); if standing at a whiteboard appeals to you, this role isn't it.Compromising standards due to pressure from parents or school leadership. When a student achieves 99%, the response is "not yet" — and you'll receive full institutional support to maintain that standard.Spending time in an office processing administrative documents. The majority of your day involves direct interaction with students and Guides.Waiting extended periods for performance evaluations. Data is accessible in real time through Coachbot, and adjustments occur immediately.Youth Development Manager Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure Alpha's 3 Promises are fulfilled for your cohort and the Guides under your leadership: every child enjoys school, learns at 2x the standard pace, and develops genuine life skills.Basic RequirementsCurrently located in or willing to relocate to Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Piedmont, CA; South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Bethesda, MD; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Seattle, WA (relocation assistance available)Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related discipline (Master's preferred; conventional teaching certifications are not required)Minimum 5 years of professional experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or comparable fieldDemonstrated experience designing and executing educational programs, curricula, or training initiativesProven history of managing a team of 5 or more individuals, including experience with recruitment and performance-based dismissal decisionsBackground in coaching, mentoring, or delivering constructive feedback to enhance engagement and resultsExperience supporting youth aged 5–14 in educational or developmental contextsSkilled in leveraging data and metrics to inform decisions and foster continuous improvementLegal authorization to work in the United StatesNice-to-have RequirementsMaster's degree in Education, Psychology, or BusinessExperience as an athletic coach, camp director, or youth program coordinator where you directly motivated children to achieve specific, measurable goalsHistory of coaching adults in positions where performance was monitored and evaluatedConfidence presenting to large groups of children.
