Head of Content

RundownHenrico, VAJune 2nd, 2026
About the role: As Head of Content at The Rundown, youll own the editorial bar across everything we publish — three daily newsletters (AI, Tech, Robotics), social channels, guides, newsletter takeovers, and new show formats. Youll be the manager that our team looks to, the person who ensures every piece that goes out sounds like The Rundown. You’ll also build the team that makes this possible — recruiting, hiring, and developing writers, editors, and producers as we expand from three newsletters into a multi-show, multi-format content operation. By the end of year 1, we expect youll be leading a team of 8-12+ across editorial, video, and short‑form. You’ll report directly to the CEO, run weekly calls, and help us scale our media ecosystem from three newsletters into a full portfolio of shows and formats. Key Responsibilities Own editorial quality across all properties: Review and edit the AI, Tech, and Robotics newsletters daily. Give direct, specific feedback to writers — not just line edits, but coaching on structure, angle, and voice. Enforce brand voice consistency: Ensure social posts, guides, newsletters, takeovers, and show content all sound and look like one publication. Maintain and evolve our voice guidelines as we add formats. Lead newsletter takeover editorial: Partner with the team to ensure every sponsored takeover meets our editorial standards. Push back on weak sponsor submissions and guide them toward content our audience will actually read. Scale the media ecosystem: Help us go from three newsletters to a full portfolio — new shows, new formats, repeatable editorial systems, and flywheels that compound across the content ecosystem. Build and lead the content team: Own the org design for editorial. Decide what roles we need next, when we need them, and what the reporting lines look like as we expand from three newsletters into shows, podcasts, and new formats. Recruit and hire top editorial talent: Partner with ops to run the editorial hiring pipeline end‑to‑end — JDs, sourcing, screening, interviews, take‑home tests, and close. Develop and retain the team: Run 1:1s, give hard feedback, set performance expectations, and own onboarding. Run editorial weekly calls: Lead weekly editorial syncs, track KPIs, surface bottlenecks, and bring new ideas to the CEO on where we should go next. Coach and develop: Help our broader writing team level up. Give hard feedback with care. Own onboarding and recruiting for new editorial hires. Our ideal candidate A writers editor: Youve been a senior editor or managing editor at a publication, newsletter, or media brand. You can diagnose whats wrong with a draft in 30 seconds and articulate the fix clearly. AI-native: You use AI tools daily to research, draft, fact‑check, and ship faster. You can tell immediately when a piece was AI‑generated and poorly edited — and you know how to fix it. Obsessed with AI as a topic: You read our newsletter. You can tell the difference between genuinely important AI news and hype, and you have strong opinions about coverage. Voice‑calibrated: You can write in someone elses voice, teach others to do the same, and hold the line on consistency across a team. A builder, not just an editor: Youre excited about designing new content formats, not just polishing existing ones. High trust, high ownership: Youll be the senior editorial person at a company that doesnt have one today. You thrive with autonomy and youre good at managing up. What we offer A chance to shape the editorial voice of the worlds largest AI media brand, reaching 2M+ professionals daily. A global team that is passionate about the future of AI, media & education. Competitive compensation, flexible hours & fully remote work. Location Fully remote. Our team members live in Canada, USA, UK, Switzerland, and more. #J-18808-Ljbffr
