Associate Designer (Men's Apparel)

Job Title: Associate Designer, Men'sWork Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)Duration: 3 month contract with option to extend or hireEducation/Experience: Bachelor's degree preferredJob Description: The Associate Designer, Men's supports the Design team in the development and execution of seasonal apparel collections from concept through production for the Value and Wholesale channels. This role is both creative and detail-oriented, partnering closely with Design, Merchandising, Technical Design, and Production to ensure product aligns with brand vision, quality standards, and seasonal timelines. The Associate Designer plays a key role in day-to-day design development, technical execution, and organizational support.Key Responsibilities Design & Creative SupportSupport the development of seasonal concepts, color palettes, prints, and silhouettes in alignment with brand directionCreate and update technical sketches and flats using Adobe IllustratorAssist with fabric, trim, and color selection in partnership with senior designersContribute to mood boards, concept decks, line reviews, and seasonal presentationsConduct trend, market, and competitive research using digital platforms (e.g., TikTok, Instagram, WGSN, Miro) Product DevelopmentCreate, update, and maintain accurate tech packs, including measurements, construction details, and design commentsSupport fit sessions by taking detailed notes, tracking revisions, and following up on changesTrack product updates and changes throughout the development lifecycle to ensure accuracy and alignment Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Merchandising, Technical Design, and Production to ensure design intent is clearly communicated and executedCommunicate with overseas vendors and factories as directed, supporting development and timeline needsAssist in managing seasonal calendars and meeting key development milestones Administrative & Operational SupportOrganize and maintain design files, reference libraries, and seasonal boardsUpdate line plans, BOMs, PLM systems, and internal tracking documentsSupport market preparation, adoption meetings, and seasonal milestones Skills & Qualifications :Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred1–3 years of experience in an apparel design or product development role (internships included)Apparel industry experience strongly preferredPortfolio requiredProficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; PLM experience a plusStrong sketching, illustration, and organizational skillsWorking knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and fitExcellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesStrong written and verbal communication skills Personal AttributesPassion for fashion and product developmentProactive, eager to learn, and receptive to feedbackTeam-oriented with a positive, collaborative attitudeAbility to balance creativity with structure, deadlines, and execution
