Administrative Assistant 2 - Human Resources

Position Overview
The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Administrative Assistant II to support the Human Resources Department. This role provides comprehensive administrative support across human resources and risk management functions, while also serving as a key point of contact for employees, applicants, and the public.
The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a professional and customer-focused manner.
Key Responsibilities
Provide a wide range of administrative and office support for the Human Resources Department
Serve as the primary point of contact for the HR inbox, responding to and routing inquiries appropriately
Coordinate meetings, training sessions, New Hire Orientation, and employee wellness events
Maintain and audit personnel and electronic records in compliance with applicable regulations
Process background checks, drug screenings, I-9 documentation, and employment verifications
Assist with benefits enrollment and related employee services
Track timecards for employees on leave and support payroll-related communications
Process invoices, tuition reimbursements, and purchasing transactions; reconcile departmental expenses
Maintain calendars, reports, databases, and tracking systems to support departmental operations
Coordinate licensure, certifications, and continuing education tracking for staff
Assist with Open Records Requests in coordination with the City Clerk's Office
Receive and screen visitors, phone calls, and email correspondence
Support additional projects and assignments as needed
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Two to five years of administrative or clerical experience
Prior experience in a similar office environment (government, corporate, education, etc.)
Experience supporting teams, managers, or departments in a professional office environment
Ability to obtain a Notary Public commission within six months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree in business administration, office management, or a related field
At least two years of administrative experience within a Human Resources department

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position involves a combination of administrative and active tasks. Duties may include extended periods at a workstation, occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds, and movement such as walking, bending, or reaching. Some tasks may involve exposure to outdoor conditions.
