Controller

Davis Development Group, Inc., a premiere commercial property management, construction, and development company conveniently located in Solon, Ohio seeks a Controller to lead our accounting team and work alongside the owners and executive management of the organization. CONTROLLER The Controller is responsible for all accounting, tax, and financial activities for the Company and its multiple entities. RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department and ensure the accurate and timely closing of financial records. Oversee treasury management, financial controls, and compliance. Oversee financial collections reporting and prepare monthly statements and budgets for ownership review. Oversee Accounts Receivable to ensure timely and accurate billing, cash application, and cash collections. Oversee Accounts Payable to ensure policies and practices are followed in a timely manner. Assure processes are followed including general ledger coding, purchase orders, wire payments, annual 1099 reporting, company credit card administration, and sales/use tax regulations and compliance. Coordinate the preparation of annual operating budgets. Collaborate with Project Managers to analyze job budgets versus actuals. Ensure all paperwork related to contractors and subcontractors is complete and orderly. Prepare financial reporting including monthly variance analysis. Oversee tax preparation; prepare CAM, Real Estate tax, insurance, utility reconciliations. Manage customer, vendor, and other third-party relationships including insurance, audit, and banking. Oversee risk management and internal controls. Prepare or complete year end workpapers and schedules for the Company and its related entities. Review the tax returns for the Company and its related entities prepared by our accounting firm prior to filing. Other projects and responsibilities as needed or requested. QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION: Public accounting experience including partnership taxation. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required. CPA preferred. 7 years of accounting experience - real estate experience highly beneficial. Solid understanding of the application of current technologies. Ability to effectively create project budgets and forecasts. Progressive experience leading day-to-day financial operations. Experience with CAM reconciliation. Strong understanding of Excel modeling and financial analysis. Self-starter with strong organization and time-management abilities. Ability to properly handle confidential information. Experience operating in a small family business environment preferred. Ability to work independently, setting and executing goals. Attention to detail and strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to communicate well with others on all levels. Solid team player. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work for maximum efficiency. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
