Our goal is to provide superior, competitively priced roofing solutions while offering meaningful work and advancement opportunities for our employees.We are seeking a Payroll Specialist for our Portland, OR office.The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of union payroll, including collecting and entering timecards, verifying data with operations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and labor regulations. This role manages the full payroll cycle, supports HR functions such as onboarding and benefits coordination, assists with accounts payable, and maintains confidential, well-organized payroll records.Job Functions (include):Time & Attendance ManagementReview and audit time entries in TFM for accuracy and completenessEdit employee punches and resolve discrepancies as neededProcess TFM queue items in NavisionPayroll ProcessingReview, validate, and transfer time data from TFM into payroll systemsMaintain and update Time Tracker spreadsheetsProcess payroll and time journals accurately and on scheduleEnsure compliance with union agreements and labor regulationsResearch and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner Post-Payroll ActivitiesGenerate and review payroll reportsProcess payroll-related invoices, including taxes and other paymentsSubmit and track payroll tax paymentsUpload direct deposit files and 401(k) contributionsComplete certified payroll reportingMaintain payroll trackers (taxes, sick time, Social Security, etc.)Distribute employee pay stubs Employee Records & HR SupportProcess new hire paperwork and maintain accurate employee recordsEnter employee data into Navision and maintain hiring documentationEnsure I-9 compliance and proper recordkeepingHandle employment verifications and unemployment inquiriesCoordinate background checks and drug testingSupport benefits communication and enrollment Administrative & Financial SupportMaintain job-related documentation in TFMAssist with accounts payable and internal reportingOrganize and maintain digital and physical filing systems Qualifications:Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in payroll processing or a related administrative/accounting role; construction industry experience preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in business or accounting a plusStrong knowledge of payroll processes, practices, and applicable regulationsProficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skillsExperience with accounting or payroll systems (Navision preferred)Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExceptional attention to detail and accuracy, especially with data entry and financial informationStrong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsProven ability to handle sensitive payroll and employee information with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
