Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Cardiac knowledge preferred ACLS/BLS Description: Medical center specializes in telemetry nursing. Unit has 30 beds with a patient ratio of 5-6:1. The nursing staff includes unit clerks and patient care technicians. Equipment used includes Welch Allyn vitals monitors, Novameter glucose monitors, and Philips telemetry systems. Documentation system utilized is Meditech-HCA version. Medications managed through WOW with med drawers and a dispensing system. Scheduling requires working every other weekend with adjustments as needed. Floating policy applies to the general medical/surgical areas, orthopedic unit, and progressive care unit. Patient experience requires hourly rounding and effective communication with the care team. Participation in bedside rounding and adherence to unit guidelines is expected. Knowledge of heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips is favored. Procedures performed on unit include chest tube management and wound vac management. A strict dress code is followed, with specific guidelines on scrubs and accessories. Documentation of telemetry applications and rhythm strips is mandatory. A positive work environment is fostered through shared governance and team collaboration.
