Description:Avionics Technician – Engine HarnessJob DescriptionAn Avionics Technician (Engine Harness) is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, repair, and maintenance of electrical wiring systems and harnesses that connect aircraft engine components to avionics and control systems. This role ensures that all engine-related electrical systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with aviation standards.ResponsibilitiesInstall and route engine wiring harnesses according to engineering drawings and schematicsPerform continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing of harness systemsTroubleshoot and repair faulty wiring, connectors, and terminalsInterpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and maintenance manualsInspect harnesses for: Wear and chafingHeat damageCorrosionPerform crimping, soldering, splicing, and pinning of wires and connectorsEnsure proper shielding and grounding of engine electrical systemsMaintain compliance with: FAA / EASA regulationsCompany quality and safety proceduresDocument all maintenance and repair activitiesTechnical SkillsStrong understanding of: Electrical systems and circuitsAircraft wiring interconnection systems (EWIS)Proficiency with tools: MultimetersWire strippers/crimpersContinuity testersAbility to read and interpret: Wiring diagramsSchematicsIPC (Illustrated Parts Catalog)Knowledge of: Connector types (circular, rectangular, MIL-spec)Shielding and grounding techniquesFamiliarity with engine systems integration (sensors, FADEC interfaces)Requirements: Education & Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent (required)Technical training in: Avionics, electrical systems, or aircraft MaintenanceFAA Powerplant license (preferred)1–5+ years of experience in: Aircraft wiring or Avionics systemsEngine harness assembly or Maintenance
