Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Pay Rate: $30.79 per hour Location: Fredericksburg, VA 22408 Employment Type: W2 contract to hire, high potential to convert to a permanent role Schedule Options: 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM Job Overview This role supports the maintenance and reliability of equipment within a mid-to-large volume facility. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for implementing preventative maintenance processes, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing repairs to ensure production goals and quality standards are consistently met. This position plays a key role in maintaining system performance, minimizing downtime, and ensuring safe and efficient operations. Key Responsibilities Serve as a senior-level technical support resource within the Maintenance area, working under limited supervision and escalating non-standard issues as needed Perform both routine and non-routine maintenance tasks critical to completing technical support requests and maintaining operational flow Conduct preventative maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of systems and equipment Regularly inspect machinery to identify wear, defects, and potential failures Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational guidelines Execute complex daily work orders with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and reliability Work primarily on conveyor systems and powered industrial trucks Support spare parts usage, inventory control, and proper documentation of maintenance activities Experience & Education Requirements High school diploma or GED required 3-4+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or related field preferred Experience with conveyor systems, powered industrial trucks, or automated material handling systems strongly preferred Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and general troubleshooting practices Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders Experience performing preventative maintenance and emergency repairs in a production-driven environment Basic computer skills for work order tracking, documentation, and maintenance logs .
