DESTINATION DC, There is Only One DC--There is Only One You.Bring your uniqueness to our team!Internship Summary:Reports to: Global Sales CoordinatorThe Global Sales Intern will directly support the Convention Sales and Services department with tools needed to sell and service meetings and conventions hosted in Washington, DC. You will gain dedicated experience in the international business events industry, develop project management skills, and acquire advanced knowledge about Washington, DC's destination appeal. Your responsibilities will include:Market Research: Conducting web research to gather information on potential clients and industry trends. Sales Support: Updating sales collateral and website information to ensure accuracy and consistency. Familiarization Tours: Assisting with the planning and execution of familiarization tours for international clients. Data Management: Entering data into the department's database to maintain accurate records. Team Collaboration: Attending team and cross-departmental meetings to stay informed and contribute to discussions. This internship provides a unique opportunity to learn about the convention sales industry, gain practical experience, and contribute to the success of Destination DC's international business events.Your Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Conduct web researchUpdate sales collateral and website informationAssist with Washington, DC familiarization (FAM) toursDatabase entryAttend team meetings Attend cross-departmental meetingsVarious projects based on professional interestWhat You Bring: Experience, Competencies & Education:You must be currently enrolled in college; must be a junior or senior year college student in good standingHospitality, Travel & Tourism, Marketing, or Business; or have completed relevant courseworkPrevious internship experience a plusStrong written and verbal communication skillsSelf-starter with good organizational skills and ability prioritize tasksAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteEagerness to learn from a team of dynamic, engaged professionals working to promote Washington, DC and its vital hospitality and travel and tourism economyDemonstrated interest in the travel and tourism economy, enthusiasm for Washington, DCInternship Specifics:Duration Spring (January 13 - May 15). You must be available for in-office work 20-28 hours per week. Hours worked must be within the parameters of Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm EST to coincide with the operational hours of the office. Work Environment: This Intern will follow Destination DC's policies for staff and may work hybrid, coming into the office at a minimum of two days a week and as determined by supervisor. Intern may work from the office on other days, too.
