Position Title: Medical Lab Scientist IILocation: 1670 St. Vincents Way, Middleburg, FL (Ascension)Duration: 3+ monthsWork Schedule: 3rd Shift (8:00 PM - 6:00 AM), 10-hour shifts, rotating weekendsWork Arrangement: OnsitePosition SummaryResponsibilities are interchangeable among Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist roles. The position involves evaluating specimen acceptability and performing routine to complex laboratory testing in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Background & ContextCoverage for FMLA / short-staffed Core Lab at AscensionKey ResponsibilitiesDetermine specimen acceptability based on established criteriaPerform routine and complex laboratory testing as per SOPsMonitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentationMake technical decisions related to testing and problem-solvingPrepare, test, and evaluate reagents and quality controlsEnsure accurate and timely reporting of test resultsPerform and document preventive maintenance and QC proceduresMaintain adequate inventory of testing suppliesAssist with specimen processing when requiredFollow safety protocols and use appropriate PPEReceive and process samples, run test kits, perform setups, and maintain documentationPerform generalist duties with focus on:ChemistryHematologyBlood BankQualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field (as per CLIA/state requirements)2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience requiredState Medical Technologist license (if applicable)ASCP or AMT certification requiredBlood Bank experience is mandatoryStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentProficiency with computers; experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a plusStrong communication skillsMust pass a standardized color vision screeningFlexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as neededWorking Conditions & Physical DemandsOnsite Core Laboratory environmentColor vision screening requiredAdditional InformationFull-time: 40 hours/week (10-hour shifts)Ascension credentialing required (transcripts + resume)Required Vaccinations:Hepatitis BMMRT-DAPVaricellaFlu (declination accepted)Position is offered by a no fee agency.
