About the RoleAtlantica is seeking an experienced Senior Project Developer to join its renewable energy development team. This role is responsible for owning and driving the complete lifecycle of complex, utility-scale renewable energy projects—from initial site identification and feasibility analysis through permitting, stakeholder engagement, financial structuring, and pre-construction handoff.The Senior Project Developer will play a strategic leadership role, making key project decisions, representing the company externally, mentoring junior team members, and coordinating stakeholders across engineering, environmental, legal, finance, regulatory, and commercial functions.The successful candidate should have deep renewable energy development experience and a proven ability to independently advance large-scale projects while navigating complex regulatory, commercial, community, and technical challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Development & FeasibilityLead site identification and advanced feasibility assessments for utility-scale renewable energy projects.Evaluate resource availability, environmental considerations, grid interconnection requirements, and project economics.Integrate technical and commercial analysis into strategic go/no-go recommendations.Identify project risks and opportunities throughout the development lifecycle.Advance multiple complex projects simultaneously from early-stage development through pre-construction.Permitting & Regulatory AffairsOwn and manage the full permitting process across local, state, and federal jurisdictions.Develop strategies for navigating multi-jurisdictional permitting requirements.Proactively identify and resolve regulatory challenges that could affect project schedules or viability.Maintain senior-level relationships with regulatory agencies and government stakeholders.Represent the company during public hearings, regulatory proceedings, and community meetings.Land & Stakeholder NegotiationsLead negotiations with landowners, utilities, municipalities, First Nations, and government stakeholders.Structure and close site-control agreements and project-support arrangements.Develop strong, long-term relationships with landowners, regulators, communities, utilities, and external development consultants.Build consensus among stakeholders with different priorities and interests.Project ManagementDevelop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk registers.Track project milestones and ensure accountability across development workstreams.Prepare executive-level project progress reports.Identify obstacles that could delay development and drive timely solutions.Manage competing priorities across a portfolio of complex, long-horizon projects.Financial & Commercial DevelopmentLead project financial modeling and development budgeting.Support funding strategy and project financing activities.Develop cost estimates and evaluate project economics.Structure and negotiate commercial agreements, including:Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)Interconnection agreementsOfftake arrangementsApply strong financial and commercial judgment when evaluating development opportunities.Cross-Functional LeadershipServe as the senior liaison between engineering, environmental, legal, finance, and other internal teams.Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure development milestones remain on track.Identify and resolve technical, regulatory, financial, commercial, and operational risks.Maintain alignment between project objectives and broader company strategy.External RepresentationRepresent Atlantica at:Public hearingsCommunity meetingsRegulatory proceedingsIndustry strategic recommendations.Use these insights to help shape Atlantica's future project-development pipeline.Pre-Construction HandoffLead the transition of projects from development into construction.Ensure construction and delivery teams receive complete project documentation.Maintain documentation integrity and compliance throughout the handoff.Ensure key development requirements, commitments, risks, and agreements are clearly communicated before construction begins.Team DevelopmentMentor junior and mid-level project development professionals.Provide technical and strategic guidance to team members.Contribute to capability building and knowledge sharing.Help strengthen development processes and team expertise.Education & CertificationsBachelor's degree in:EngineeringEnvironmental ScienceBusinessUrban PlanningOr a related fieldMaster's degree is strongly preferred.PMP, LEED, or other relevant professional certifications are a plus.Proficiency with GIS tools, project-management platforms, and CRM software.Experience with tools such as Salesforce, Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent platforms is preferred.Required Experience & Technical Skills7–12 years of progressive experience in renewable energy project development, permitting, or project management.Demonstrated experience independently advancing projects from greenfield development through pre-construction.Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects across:Site controlPermittingGrid interconnectionPre-constructionDeep knowledge of feasibility assessments and environmental reviews.Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and multi-jurisdictional permitting.Strong financial acumen and hands-on experience with:Financial modelingDevelopment budgetsCost estimationCommercial agreement structuringEstablished relationships with utilities, regulators, landowners, and development consultants.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Experience with
