Believe in the Change!QualificationsMichigan Teacher CertificationMust be flexible and organized and willing to work as a team with other staff members.Must have prior experience in an elementary classroom setting.Experience working with students in the Reading and Writing (balanced literacy) Experience in developing lesson plans in all subject areas.Experience in collaborating with colleagues.Responsibilities:Tutoring or assisting individual studentsTeaching small group lessonsProviding additional instruction in reading and math skillsAssist in social development skillsCollaborating and supporting teachers' programming goals, and teaching strategies while reinforcing students' learning strategies in the classroomAssist classroom teachers in documenting appropriate assessment data that results in fair, though not equal, assessment. Ensure that data collection is accurate and timely.Engage in professional development on a continual basisMaintain confidentialityPromote and advocate for the school and district mission and vision statementsSupport academic, and behavior goals that have been set for studentsCommunicate proactively and professionally with students with teaching staffConduct all work activities in a professional mannerDemonstrate commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environmentReinforce student success following highly structured protocols and data documentation methodsUnderstand and participate in the implementation of Positive Behavior Support initiatives in the buildingOther duties as assignedSCHOOL SAFETY CLEARANCE: The successful candidate will be subject to a fingerprint and background check as a condition of employment.
