Security Engineer

Overview In this Security Engineer role, you help safeguard SpaceX’s networks, systems, and data to enable mission success. You’ll own the design, build, and operation of security solutions across authentication, identity, cloud, and application controls. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce risk and improve security posture at scale. ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain security solutions for SpaceX systems, networks, and data (incl. authentication, identity services, and access control)Develop and automate identity lifecycle management and security workflowsCreate and maintain automation scripts to support information security initiativesSecure backend network infrastructure and application security controls (e.g., web application firewalls)Enforce security policies in cloud deployments with centralized configuration and monitoringServe as SME for these solutions and document/advise on underlying technologiesCollaborate with security, IT, and cross-functional teams to identify threats and strengthen toolingDeliver scalable, repeatable, maintainable, and secure solutionsContribute to cross-team projects spanning IS, IT, HR, legal, software, and others Key requirementsBachelor's degree in a STEM field or 2+ years of security software development experience in lieu of a degreeProficiency in Python, Go, C#, C/C++, or RustExperience designing and implementing security solutions for operating systems, distributed systems, or large-scale infrastructureEffective problem-solving and root-cause analysisCross-functional collaborationClear documentation and advisory capabilitySecure coding practicesLinux/Windows/macOS internalsPKI environments and related technologies
