About the CompanyEnstor is the largest privately owned natural gas storage company in the United States, headquartered in Houston. The company owns and operates six active underground natural gas storage facilities across four states with more than 110 Bcf of working gas capacity, along with approximately 179 miles of transmission pipelines and 39 interconnects to major transmission systems. Enstor also transports and delivers natural gas from multiple pipeline receipt points to power generation, industrial, and utility customers throughout the Southeast United States. In total, Enstor operates 12 regulated natural gas pipelines spanning more than 1,700 miles with a combined delivery capacity exceeding 2.6 Bcf/d. These assets connect to 16 major long‑haul pipelines and storage facilities, ensuring reliable natural gas supply to customers across Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.About the RoleThe Tax Director is responsible for overseeing the company’s tax strategy, planning, compliance, and reporting activities across all federal, state, and local jurisdictions. This role plays a critical leadership function in managing complex tax matters associated with natural gas storage and pipeline operations, including multi-state taxation, regulatory considerations, and capital-intensive infrastructure projects. The Tax Director partners closely with finance leadership, legal, operations, and external advisors to ensure compliance while optimizing the company’s tax position and supporting strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, expansions, and infrastructure investments.ResponsibilitiesTax Strategy & Planning Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with the company’s financial and operational objectives.Provide tax guidance on major business transactions including acquisitions, asset purchases, joint ventures, and infrastructure investments.Evaluate tax implications of pipeline expansions, storage facility development, and other organic capital projects.Identify tax efficiencies related to depreciation, energy infrastructure investments, and partnership structures.Tax Compliance & Reporting Oversee the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns, including corporate income, property, sales/use, and franchise taxes.Manage the quarterly and annual tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740.Ensure compliance with complex multi-state tax requirements associated with pipeline and storage operations.Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings.Regulatory & Industry-Specific Tax Matters Provide tax support related to regulatory requirements affecting pipeline and storage operations.Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulatory policies impacting the energy and midstream sectors.Support tax matters associated with regulated entities, cost-of-service rate structures, and regulatory filings when applicable.Audit & Risk Management Lead tax audits and examinations with federal, state, and local taxing authorities.Maintain strong internal controls over tax processes and documentation.Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as the primary internal tax expert for the organization.Partner with finance, accounting, legal, commercial, and operations teams on tax implications of business activities.Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and consultants.Correspond with IIF Tax Team as needed.Lead and develop internal tax staff as applicable.Process Improvement Improve and streamline tax compliance and reporting processes.Implement or enhance tax technology solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency. QualificationsEducation Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.Master’s in Taxation preferred.Certifications CPA strongly preferred.Experience 10+ years of progressive tax experience.Experience in the energy, midstream, or infrastructure sectors strongly preferred.Background in public accounting and/or corporate tax.Strong knowledge of multi-state taxation and partnership taxation.Experience supporting complex capital projects and asset-intensive businesses.
