Accounting Specialist

Job descriptionJosephy & Co. is a well-established CPA firm that is growing quickly. We are seeking a very strong bookkeeper/payroll/accounting professional with great inter-personal skills to join our company. We focus on providing accounting, tax, and consulting services to small businesses and their owners. This role is perfect for someone that enjoys working closely with clients and keeping financial records accurate and organized for a wide variety of small businesses. You'll be a dependable part of a boutique CPA firm as we help small businesses with their full accounting and tax needs.Responsibilities Manage cash basis bookkeeping for multiple clients across various industries Maintain accurate general ledger activity and record transactions monthly, quarterly, annually, etc. Perform bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations Prepare monthly and year-end statements for clients Review client books for accuracy, identify issues, and make correcting entries Process and ensure payroll compliance for many S Corps where the shareholder is the only employee Prepare and payroll tax returns and submit timely payroll tax deposits Prepare sales tax filings and submit timely sales tax payments Work with clients to request documents, resolve discrepancies, and answer accounting questions Assist the tax team by maintaining clean books and year-end workpapers for tax return preparation Manage multiple clients, projects, and deadlines with strong attention to detail Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication with clientsSkills Must have strong experience with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks online Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge Strong payroll processing experience and understanding of payroll compliance Ability to manage accounting functions independently from start to finish Strong understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close Ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve client records Highly organized and detail oriented Ability to work efficiently across a variety of clients and industries Excellent communication amongst the team internally Outlook and Excel Experience with payroll platforms and client accounting software is a bonusExperience Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting experience, in a CPA firm with many business clients Strong hands-on experience with cash basis bookkeeping and payroll is requiredJob type Full-time position with a focus on longevity as the company continues to growBenefits Competitive salary based on the market and strength of candidate Flexibility to work remotely/work from home Health insurance Paid time off, vacation days, sick days, and holidays Performance based bonus pay (twice a year) Work/life balance with a family first focus Some months include half day Fridays 401(k) 401(k) matching Bereavement leave Flexible schedule Opportunities for advancement Paid sick time/Paid time off/Paid trainingPlease respond with resume and salary or hourly wage requirements.
