Hourly Range: $80.00 – $100.00hr (commensurate with experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Construction Cost Estimator to join our Cost Estimating team at SIRIS. This position supports federal government construction projects, providing expertise in cost estimation. You will work closely with our clients and field staff on significant projects. You will support both Design-Bid-Build and Design/Build contracts, developing detailed estimates using standard construction estimating practices and software.

Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed review of project plans and specifications.
Perform quantity takeoffs for all divisions of construction activities.
Prepare top-down conceptual and bottoms-up detailed estimates. Recognizes how various processes/project actions and assumptions may impact estimates.
Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet tight deadlines.
Under supervision prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for projects.
Ensure entire project scope is covered in the estimate
Prepare clarifications and assumptions for such estimate
Prepare constructability assessment and mitigate issues
Education & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered
Experience
Academic background with a specialty in Estimating or evidence of five (5) years of construction estimating experience to compensate for the absence of higher education. Work experience may be substituted and will be reviewed for acceptability.
Experience supporting regulated environments (federal, healthcare, or institutional) is highly desirable
Candidates may be asked to provide examples or documentation of completed cost estimates demonstrating relevant experience
Preferred Experience
Preferred experience with Autodesk ProEst, AutoCAD, Revit, & RS Means.
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in administrative, financial, and compliance matters
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and various PDF viewers
Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Part-time remote ranging from 10-15 hours a week, allowing you to work from home or any suitable location with a reliable internet connection.
Collaboration with team members and clients will primarily occur through virtual meetings, emails, and project management software.
Flexibility in scheduling may be needed to accommodate meetings across different time zones.
Occasional need to travel for on-site visits or team meetings, if required.
