OBD Test Engineer
Summary:
The main function of a CARB OBD Certification Testing Engineer is to work and validate the OBD related powertrain system within vehicles. They are responsible to establish a process for official CARB OBD Certification testing and software validation with the aim to execute this process long term. Furthermore, they are responsible to conduct other OBD and powertrain related testing and validation activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Establish a process for official CARB OBD Certification testing
- Perform the validation of released or soon to be released software for US market light-duty gasoline, diesel and hybrid vehicles.
- Plan and conduct testing of gasoline or diesel powertrains in the areas of combustion, emissions control/OBD
- Perform root cause analysis of issues and discuss countermeasures in a team setting.
- Plan and support emissions testing activities and coordinate overall emission validation projects.
- Perform analysis of conducted testing in respective areas and create reports for internal and external stakeholder (including CARB)
- Perform analysis of certification related software changes and create reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Present results and findings to upper management and other important stakeholders
Requirements:
- Detail-oriented mindset and strong project coordination skills required.
- Experience with light-duty gasoline and diesel engine control units, especially Bosch control units
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience of CARB OBD2 regulations
- Experience in OBD2 monitor development (i.e. design or calibration)
- Strong understanding of light-duty gasoline and diesel emissions regulations
-Proficiency with data acquisition and development tools/languages such as INCA, MATLAB and Python.
-Ability to author clear and concise technical reports for a wide, global audience
-Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years’ of related experience
Ability to collaborate and work well with a team is extremely important.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
