Job Openings >> Controls TechnicianControls TechnicianSummaryTitle: Controls Technician ID: 1140 Location: Avon, IN Department: MaintenanceMore about this job >DescriptionOverviewThe Controls Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment operates efficiently, meeting all safety and quality standards critical to food production.Job ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, repair, and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and other automation systems;Respond to equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules;Program, calibrate, and optimize PLCs and related control systems to meet operational needs;Conduct regular updates and backups of control programs to ensure system integrity;Collaborate with engineering teams to upgrade existing systems or install new automation equipment;Ensure all control systems comply with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP) and company standards;Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and modifications in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System);Support audits by providing documentation and ensuring compliance with food safety standards;Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical and control systems;Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs;Adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently;Performs other required tasks as assigned.Job RequirementsAssociate’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field;Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation or controls in a manufacturing environment; experience in food manufacturing preferred;Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.);Knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, and servo systems;Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations (e.g., GMP, HACCP, FDA);Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;Excellent verbal and written communication skills;Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;Exposure to a food manufacturing environment, including varying temperatures, noise levels, and the presence of food allergens;Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.Apply NowRefer to a FriendAlternatively, you can apply to this job using your profile from Indeed by clicking the button below:Apply with Indeed
