Senior Computer Program/Software Engineer
Position SummaryThe Senior Computer Program / Software Engineer – Modeling & Simulation is responsible for the design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance of advanced modeling andsimulation systems used for analysis, training, mission planning, engineering evaluation, anddecision support. This role develops high-performance software solutions that accurately modelcomplex systems, operational environments, and real-world scenarios.The engineer collaborates with systems engineers, data scientists, analysts, and subject matterexperts, and customers to develop simulation capabilities supporting defense, aerospace,government, research, and commercial programs.Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware DevelopmentDesign, develop, and maintain modeling and simulation software applications.Implement algorithms representing physical systems, operational processes, and mission scenarios.Develop scalable and maintainable software architectures.Perform code reviews and ensure compliance with software engineering standards.Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues.Modeling & Simulation EngineeringDevelop mathematical, statistical, and physics-based models.Build constructive, virtual, and live simulation environments.Validate models against operational data and system requirements.Analyze simulation results and recommend improvements.Support scenario development and experimentation activities.Systems IntegrationIntegrate simulation systems with external applications, databases, sensors, and command-and-control systems.Develop APIs and middleware components.Support distributed simulation architectures.Ensure interoperability with existing simulation frameworks and standards.Verification & Validation (V&V)Develop test plans and validation methodologies.Conduct unit, integration, performance, and acceptance testing.Verify simulation accuracy and model fidelity.Document test results and corrective actions.Technical LeadershipProvide technical guidance to software and simulation teams.Mentor junior engineers.Participate in architecture reviews and technical planning.Support proposal development and technical solution design.Research & InnovationEvaluate emerging technologies and simulation methodologies.Recommend improvements to modeling approaches and software architectures.Support research and development initiatives.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.5–10+ years of software engineering experience.Experience developing modeling and simulation applications.Strong programming skills in one or more of:C++JavaPythonC#Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Preferred QualificationsMaster& degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or related field.Experience supporting defense, aerospace, research, or government programs.Knowledge of simulation frameworks and standards.Experience with distributed simulation environments.Technical SkillsProgramming LanguagesC++PythonJavaC#MATLABModeling & SimulationDiscrete Event SimulationAgent-Based ModelingMonte Carlo SimulationDigital Twin TechnologiesPhysics-Based ModelingStatistical AnalysisSimulation StandardsHigh Level Architecture (HLA)Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS)Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA)Software ToolsGitJenkinsDockerKubernetesVisual StudioEclipseData &AnalyticsSQL DatabasesData VisualizationMachine Learning IntegrationData Modeling
