Ropes Course & Climbing Wall Director
Camp Laurel South, a premier co-ed residential summer camp in New England, is seeking a dynamic, experienced leader to direct our Ropes Course & Climbing Wall program—one of the most exciting and impactful areas of camp.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about outdoor adventure and thrives on helping kids step outside their comfort zones. As the Director, you’ll lead all aspects of our high ropes, low ropes, and climbing wall programming, creating a safe, engaging, and confidence-building experience for campers and staff alike.
What You’ll Do:
Oversee and lead all ropes course and climbing wall operations
Facilitate engaging challenge course and team-building programs
Ensure the highest level of safety through daily inspections, protocol adherence, and risk management
Train, supervise, and mentor staff in belaying, spotting, and facilitation techniques
Foster a positive, inclusive environment where campers feel supported to take appropriate risks
Help campers build confidence, resilience, communication, and teamwork skills
Collaborate with camp leadership to elevate adventure programming across camp
What We’re Looking For:
Experience leading ropes courses, climbing walls, or outdoor adventure programs
Strong understanding of safety standards, equipment, and risk management
Certification in belaying, climbing instruction, or challenge course facilitation (preferred)
Experience working with children or teens in a camp, school, or recreational setting
Proven leadership and team management skills
Calm, attentive, and safety-first mindset in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to pass a background check
