Finance Supervisor

Description Summary Objective The purpose of this position is to Supervises finance and accounting activities including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, contracts billing, purchasing and cashier operations. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. Evaluates policies, procedures, programs and services and recommends modifications. Provides technical assistance and instruction to resolve complex problems with accounts, billing and purchasing issues. Reviews and updates cash schedules to determine the availability of general funds and approves purchases and payment of invoices. Processes bank transfers, prepares journal entries, reconciles accounts and generates reports. Reviews and approves journal entries and ensures revenues and expenditures are properly entered into the computer system. Coordinates meetings with vendors and contractors to provide information concerning contract renewals, pricing, billing and related issues and to ensure adherence to contract specifications. Supervises cashier activities, approves bank deposits and completes special projects. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Requirements MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business or Public Administration or related discipline. Four (4) years of finance, accounting, budget preparation, budget analysis or financial analysis experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS None. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
