This position is represented by Local No. 420 IUOE.Work Hours: 2:00pm - 10:00pmJob SummaryA Garage Mechanic assists with repairing and maintaining company vehicles by performing preventive maintenance inspection and servicing, non-critical welding, tire repairs, and vehicle cleaning.Job Responsibilities Perform type “A”, “B”, and Aerial preventive maintenance inspection and servicing:Lubricate chassis, change engine oil and filters, check all fluid levels, inspect brake assemblies, tune engines, service cooling systems, service automatic transmissionsPerform operational, condition, and safety inspection of vehiclePerform Aerial inspections and repairs in compliance with ANSI, OSHA, and DOT requirementsDiagnose, service, adjust, repair, replace, rebuild, and overhaul various vehicle parts and componentsPerform required machining operations:Resurface brake drums and rotors, hone brake cylinders, bore cylinders, grind valvesPerform oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, and hard facing welding in non-critical areasChange and repair tiresClean and wash vehicles and work equipmentProvide relief for other positions as required and work without assistance in job areas where sufficient knowledge and training are present:Attend company-sponsored classesObtain necessary training to learn duties of positions with progressionMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma, GED or HSED2+ years of experience with repairing/servicing automobiles, trucks, buses, industrial/military vehicles, agriculture equipment, aviation equipment, construction equipment or railroad equipment2+ years of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) experienceValid Drivers LicenseMust have a valid CDL or be able to obtain a CDL with a valid medical certification within six months of hireTesting RequirementsConstruction and Skilled Trades (CAST): Comprehension of pictured mechanical principles such as gears, levers, pulley systems, water flow, etc.; arithmetic skills in calculating distances shown in prints and drawings; and the ability to read and understand written material.End Date: 05/24/2026Minimum Posting Range: $36.03Maximum Posting Range: $53.05The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future.
