Your responsibilities will include researching and resolving account discrepancies, processing checks, maintaining accurate payment records, and ensuring all accounts are up to date. You'll work closely with our legal and accounting teams, contributing to our mission of client advocacy and justice.Important Specifics: Location: Onsite, Downtown Charleston (Parking provided!)Hours: 10:15 AM – 6:15 PM, Monday to Friday (aligned with end-of-day banking functions)About The Role: Promptly receive and scan incoming check, verify check accuracy, and reconcile discrepanciesCollaborating with legal teams, apply checks to the correct cases or mattersInvestigate and resolve check application discrepanciesUpload checks to CheckWriter and cut checks in Salesforce (Litify)Maintain balanced ledgers in AccountingSeed and LitifyEnsure compliance with firm policies and accounting standardsRecord and manage outgoing paymentsCoordinate disbursement approvals with legal staffClear liens from client accountsMaintain organized financial recordsPrepare management and audit reportsDeposit fee checks into Trust accounts and create deposits through Wells FargoHandle refund/reissue funds and mail them to the correct partiesAbout Your Background: Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred)Proven experience as an Accounting Specialist, ideally in a law firm or legal environmentStrong knowledge of accounting principles and practicesProficiency in accounting softwareDetail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesEffective communicator for collaboration with legal teams and clientsAbility to work independently and meet deadlinesBenefits: Comprehensive Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)Short Term & Long Term DisabilityTraining & Development opportunities
