Special Education Teacher - Moundville Elementary

TITLE: TeacherQUALIFICATIONS:1. A valid Alabama teacher certificate in the area of instructional responsibility.REPORTS TO:PrincipalJOB GOAL:To facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts, skills, and behaviorsthat contribute to the development of mature, able, and responsible members of society.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Assesses student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, andstudent outcomes.2. Develops and implements a program of instruction that meets the individual needs,interests, and abilities of students and is consistent with local and state courses ofstudy and the objectives of the state assessment program.3. Plans and employs a variety of appropriate instructional/learning strategies andactivities which are compatible with the physical facility but serve the needs andcapabilities of the students.4. Manages the behavior of learners in the classroom and participates in themanagement of student behavior in other parts of the school.5. Continually communicates to students and parents (either in writing or verbally)instructional expectations, student progress or lack of progress.6. Continually assesses student achievement and maintains appropriate assessmentand evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.7. Actively participates in and works with other school personnel in the selection ofbooks, equipment, and other instructional material which provides the students with the bestlearning opportunities.8. Actively participates in and works with other school personnel in planning effectiveinstructional goals, objectives, methods, and curriculum as they relate to courses of study and thestate assessment program.9. Participates in professional growth and development activities including staffmeetings, inservice, and staff development activities as required or assigned.10. Assists in the documentation of student progress by efficiently maintaining andsubmitting appropriate records and reports.11. Ensures that the classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, healthful,safe, and generally conducive to learning.12. Utilizes technology and district software applications for the purpose of instructionaland administrative tasks.13. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediatesupervisor.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Salary and work year to be according to current schedule.EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions
