Job Title: Tax Advisor Department/Business Unit: Managed Operations Reports to: Office Supervisor Status: Seasonal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job SummaryAs a Tax Advisor, you will play a crucial role in preparing precise tax returns for individuals and small businesses while delivering top-notch customer service. You will remain informed on tax regulations and laws to ensure compliance and guide clients towards financial success. Responsibilities/DutiesTax Preparation:Prepare individual and small business tax returns with an emphasis on accuracy and efficiency. Review financial records, including income statements and expenditure documentation, to determine the appropriate forms for tax preparation. Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Customer Service:Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns and questions in a timely manner. Conduct client interviews to gather pertinent information regarding their tax situations. Explain tax return outcomes and provide insightful tax planning advice. Compliance and Accuracy:Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations through continuous education and professional development. Verify that all tax returns are prepared according to applicable laws and regulations. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data entered into tax software. Documentation and Recordkeeping:Maintain organized and precise records of client interactions and tax returns. Secure and accurately file all required documents. Keep client files refreshed and follow up on any missing information. Training and Development:Engage in training sessions and ongoing education to uphold professional credentials. Stay informed about changes in tax laws and updates to tax software tools. Collaboration:Work efficiently with fellow tax professionals and office staff to streamline workflow. Assist in mentoring and coaching junior staff members as necessary. Support marketing initiatives when applicable. QualificationsStrong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent attention to detail with robust organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively. Possess a PTIN or be eligible to obtain one. Education and ExperienceAssociate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent experience. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation. Physical RequirementsThis position requires extended periods of work at a desk. Some overtime and weekend work may be necessary, especially during the busy tax season.
