Managing Director, The Marlin Group - Remote PositionReports to: Chief Executive OfficerThe Marlin Group is looking for a Managing Director to lead sales, marketing and editorial activities across all group platforms while also leading the deployment of new technology to streamline operations.The Managing Director will serve as a senior operational leader within The Marlin Group, responsible for overseeing the company's core business functions-including sales, marketing and editorial-to drive revenue growth, brand strength and organizational alignment.This role is designed to enable the CEO to focus on strategic initiatives by ensuring day-to-day excellence across all commercial and content operations. The Managing Director will unify teams, optimize performance, and help position The Marlin Group as the definitive authority in big-game fishing media.The Ideal Candidate:10+ years of experience in marine media, outdoor media, or a closely related industryDemonstrated experience managing both editorial/content and revenue-generating functionsProven track record of driving revenue growth and achieving or exceeding targetsStrong understanding of media business models, including digital, print, events and sponsorshipsExperience leading cross-functional teams and senior-level operatorsDeep familiarity with the big-game fishing community strongly preferredWhat You'll Do:Strategic ExecutionLead the full integration of InTheBite into The Marlin Group ecosystem, including brand alignment, sales coordination and audience developmentTake the lead on the deployment of a new CRM system and development of AI solutions to increase sales, marketing and editorial efficiencyTrack progress against strategic initiatives and adjust execution as neededFinancial P&L responsibility for media operationsOperational LeadershipProvide day-to-day leadership and oversight of sales, marketing and editorial functionsAlign cross-functional team members around shared business goals, KPIs and performance standardsEstablish operating rhythms, reporting structures and accountability frameworksIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalabilityRevenue Growth & Commercial StrategyOwn achievement of company revenue targets across advertising, partnerships, events and emerging productsWork closely with publishers and sales teams to develop and execute revenue strategiesIdentify new revenue opportunities, including digital products, sponsorships and experiential offeringsMonitor pipeline health, pricing strategy and yield optimizationBrand & Market LeadershipStrengthen The Marlin Group's position as a leading voice in the global big-game fishing communityEnsure brand consistency and excellence across all platforms and touchpointsPartner with editorial leadership to maintain best-in-class content that drives audience growth and engagementRepresent the company at industry events, tournaments and key partner meetingsTeam Leadership & DevelopmentDirectly manage senior leaders including Editor-in-Chief, Publishers, Sales Representatives, and Marketing DirectorBuild a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration and resultsRecruit, develop and retain top talent across all functionsEstablish clear goals, feedback loops and professional development pathwaysWhat Success Looks Like (First 12-18 Months)Revenue targets consistently achieved or exceededSeamless integration of InTheBite into the Marlin ecosystemImproved alignment and performance across sales, marketing and editorial teamsMeasurable growth in audience, engagement and brand authorityCEO bandwidth meaningfully shifted toward strategic projectsAbout You:Skills & CompetenciesStrategic thinker with strong operational execution skillsCommercially driven with a sharp understanding of revenue leversExceptional leadership and team-building capabilitiesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsData-driven decision maker with experience using performance metrics and analyticsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environmentAdditional RequirementsPassion for big-game fishing and a genuine connection to the sport and its community is essentialWillingness to travel for tournaments, industry events and key meetingsHigh level of professionalism, integrity and accountabilityEntrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action and continuous improvementAbout Us:The Marlin Group is the world's largest big-game fishing network reaching more than one million captains, anglers, mates and boat owners annually across a variety of touchpoints.
